The police informer Finch accidentally witnesses what happens. A gangster called Rodriguez tries to silence the witness as well as the man who was really responsible for the woman's death, who is a politician as well as a clergyman. But before Finch can be silenced, he recognises the killer on television and sees his chance to profit from blackmail.
