  • Bea bails Lizzie out of trouble by having her give the women back their original bets and IOUs for the rest. Terry brings in a bottle of scotch for Margo. Her information - that Lizzie is running the book - doesn't impress Terry much, but Margo says if he doesn't give her the booze she'll never tell him anything else. He gives it to her. Meg and Nick have a cosy chat about his family. Although Meg doesn't notice, Nick is beginning to look at her with dewy eyes. Terry tells Vera that he got info from Margo, but doesn't tell her about the scotch. Vera is determined to put an end to Lizzie's book. Lizzie comes up with a plan for her IOUs. She'll bet the women she owes double or nothing that she can pick 6 out of 8 races. Judy has her tape recorder returned, but a cassette is missing. Margo tells Hazel that she has a bottle of scotch and she'll share if Hazel will side with her. Hazel tells Margo to go drink her scotch. Lizzie tells the women her plan; she'll pick one horse from each race and put the names in a tin. Bob has lunch with a Swedish contact, who just happens to be a Nordic babe . Lizzie won't let anyone see the names she's picked until after the races. Margo sees through her con and tries to tell the women, but they ignore her. Then Vera bursts into the laundry as the women are listening to the races. She discovers the IOUs on Doreen all signed by Lizzie. The women peek in the tin and see that Lizzie has picked 7 winners. Lizzie is marched into Erica's office, but Erica doesn't very much care. She "punishes" Lizzie by sending her to the maternity block to help out. Bea knows Margo must have lagged on Lizzie and she figures that Margo must have used the missing cassette to get something on Terry. She figures if Margo is going to blackmail a screw she'll be dangerous indeed. Nick brings Meg some lunch and asks if she and Bob have an "open" relationship. Meg blushes and chooses not to discuss such things. Terry and Vera argue over Lizzie and how the women should be treated. Terry storms out. Nick wants to wait up with Meg who is waiting for Bob. But when Bob comes home Nick gets jealous and goes to bed. Bob tells Meg straight away that his Swedish contact, Arna, is an attractive lady. They kiss as Nick seethes in the background. Margo and Doreen get kitchen duty. Margo tries to make up with Doreen by reminding her of the pantomime and the escape and offers her some scotch, but Doreen wants nothing to do with her. Doreen walks away and Margo pulls out a knife from one of the trays and pockets it. Doreen tells Bea about the scotch, who has already heard about it from Hazel. Bea confronts Terry with it, but he denies supplying it. She then tells him it was ridiculous to come down on Lizzie for running a book and he agrees. He says that Erica also agrees and that she should go talk to her about it. Bea does just that and is shocked to find that Erica would have nothing against a well-run, discreet book. Nick picks up Arna to deliver her to Bob for lunch. Arna is full of praise for Bob (Arna is evidently in need of some kind of vision correction). In the staff room, Vera apologizes to Terry and promises to try to change. He, too, is sorry and they hold hands. Erica walk in on them and thanks Terry for having Bea come talk to her. Bea visits Margo and tells her to leave Terry alone. Margo refuses. Bea is just about to bash her when Vera interrupts. She sends Bea on her way and advises Margo to watch her step. After she is left alone, Margo sharpens her knife. Bea warns Terry about Margo and then tells the women that they should seriously help Erica out with the Prisoners Needs Committee. Nick tells Meg all about Arna's thoughts on Bob. Terry confronts Margo and she tells him about the tape - or rather tapes, since she has made copies. She tells him that if he doesn't get her transferred she'll take the tape to Erica. He tells her she's made a serious mistake. Bob comes home drunk and drops a photo on the floor that Meg picks up , identifying Anna ("the one on the right", he helpfully adds). Meg is getting a bit concerned. Jim looks into Margo's cell - and finds her laying on the floor in a pool of blood .
