Insp. Thorne ~ Peter Aanensen Policeman ~ Justin Gaffney Peter ~ David Whitney Ralph ~ Charles Gilroy Drunk Derelict ~ Ernest Wilson | Meg is just visiting Ann to discuss what the doctor told her, when the call comes through to Ann about Pixie's rape. Joan tells Len he helped to put the final nail in his coffin himself by punching Myra in front of witnesses. She adds that if he's hoping to pin the rape on Frank she can forget it because he's got a cast iron alibi, provided by her. Most of the women are dubious about going along with Joan's plan and want to know why they shouldn't tell the truth, but Judy is the first to say they should take the opportunity to get rid of Len. Inspector Thorne arrives to investigate and Joan doesn't lose the opportunity to get in a dig at Meg for not turning up for her shift. Frank is leaving the rec room when the women arrive but Judy pushes him back into Chris' therapy session, allowing the women to vent their feelings against Frank. Joan is interviewed by the police: she denies telling him the women were making booze and says Frank was working in the library under her supervision at the time of the attack. Lou insists that the card game with Marlene should go ahead anyway, as she doesn't think they should waste too much time feeling sorry for Pixie. Judy describes how she found Len in Pixie's cell and the attack on Myra. Bobbie warns Marlene against getting involved with gambling and Lou, but is accused of being jealous. Lexie also refuses to back out and says she doesn't see why Bobbie is so concerned for Marlene. Lou tells the police Len raped her too. Frank tells the police about Len's violence against the prisoners at Woodridge, though the police don't seem to think it worth asking Frank about the scratch marks on his right cheek. Meg finally tells Ann her bad news about the tumour. The card game goes ahead, and Lexie beats Marlene taking all her money. Len is charged with rape and assault and taken to the police station. Marlene tells Matt about Pixie when she takes his meal to the infirmary. Joan visits Len in the police cell to offer her "sympathies" and reminds him about Kevin Nielsen as an implicit threat to take his punishment or she'll tell the police the rest she knows about him. Lexie throws Marlene's money back at her and tells her to stick it in her piggy bank until she's old enough to play with grown ups. Sam asks Ann for day release to see her mother and proposes (for the third time) her plan to build the robot teaching aid. Yemil agrees to try again with Ahmed when he visits her. Ann tells the women that Myra has concussion and will be back in a few days but that Pixie has been moved to a psychiatric hospital. Sam's request for day release is turned down. Peter tells Bobbie he'd take her out on a date if he could. Dennis returns, with Meg remarking that it took the Department to lift his suspension (as if the writers forgot that he left to go back to England with his wife). Lexie accuses Marlene of ripping her poster: Alice brags later that she did it and she and Marlene fight, with Marlene coming out of it worse. Joan gives Meg the message that Peter Wright's trial is to be held the next day. Lexie and Marlene agree to make peace. Matt and Frank fight in the library after Frank brags to Matt with what he did to Pixie.
