Lainie's mugshot appears in the opening credit sequence for this episode, though she does not appear until (354) | Maxine is taken out of the laundry to be interviewed about the contraband drop, due to Bea's misinformation to cover her escape. Nola warns the other women to keep their mouths shut if anyone asks them any questions. After Colleen leaves Maxine alone with Joan, Maxine tells her that she really doesn't know anything about this and she must have misunderstood, pointing out how unlikely it would be for Bea to lag. Bea is eventually missed and a head count is ordered. The women are locked in their cells. Colleen is convinced Bea must still be in the building until Meg suggests she could have got out with trainees and Joan remembers seeing Bea nosing around the staff room where she could have got a uniform. Lizzie is sure that Bea has escaped and blames women's ungrateful behaviour since Joan arrived. Erica speaks to the women from the corridor outside their cells, appealing for information on Bea's escape. Lizzie asks to speak to Erica, but not to pass on any real information: she only says that Bea kept her escape plans a secret and to tell the police that Bea isn't dangerous. Det Sgt Blackman makes Joan look small for falling for Bea's story and Meg makes a pointed comment in the staff room in front of her about the Department changing its view of the efficiency of certain officers. The press assemble outside Wentworth: Joan snaps at them as she is besieged when she leaves work. Colleen thinks Maxine isn't as innocent as she pretends and wants to question her again. Nola makes her pitch for top dog after criticising Bea for running out on the women. Maxine claims on her insurance for losing her phone privileges, but when Nola goes to get the money, she finds someone has cleared her out. Lizzie scoffs at Nola's assumption that it was Bea who took the money, and Maxine pipes up that she's still claiming so Nola had better find the money - perhaps she should ask Joan? Jill's ears prick up at this and she starts asking questions, so Maxine shuts her up by saying that everyone knows she's working for the Department so no-one will tell her anything. Jill demands to see Erica, and she agrees to authorise Jill's release. Nola tells Joan her money is missing, but Joan says that's not her problem. They agree that it must have been Bea who took it. Meg reads out to Colleen a news article blaming Joan for Bea's escape and, smiling, drops the paper in the staff room bin (knowing that the women will get to know what's in it). Trevor calls round to see if Maxine is coming to the halfway house, so Judy explains the working bee had to be cancelled because of an escape. After being put on kitchen duty by Meg, Lizzie finds the paper with news of Bea's escape. Ted Douglas interviews Joan over her role in Bea's escape , and she admits she was at fault. Jill returns as a visitor to report what she has heard about Joan's involvement in Nola's dealing in contraband, but admits there is no real evidence. Lindy sunbathes in the garden, but is startled to find Trevor standing over her waiting to give her a love letter. Nola is questioned about the rackets and denies everything. Buyup is cancelled when the news clipping about Bea is found by Joan on the rec room notice board. Lindy goes out to get a fix from a contact of Helen's, much to Judy's disapproval. At the end of the exercise period, Lizzie demands payment from Joan in front of Colleen on behalf of all the women for their loss of buyup .
