  • Pixie returns to the opening mugshot sequence to take the place of Bea.

Sheila Florance had apparently genuinely hurt her wrist, so this was written into the script.

Colleen finds Lizzie in tears at the security gate. Wally goes to Judy's room but finds she has gone, leaving a note: he stalls the police officer by asking to see his search warrant. Colleen tells Joan that Lizzie broke her wrist beating on the security gate, and warns her that she broke regulations escorting Bea alone. Wally decides to take over the running of the halfway house in Judy's absence. Petra gets a bouquet of white roses from Scott, with an engagement ring hidden inside it. Lizzie tells the women in the laudry that Bea has been transferred: Sonia gloats. Phyllis takes Petra's engagement ring, which she has on a string round her neck, but Sonia makes her give it back to Petra. Wally tells Scott the autopsy result: Hazel died of morphine poisoning. Joan overhears Ann urge Wally to get Judy to give herself up. After Joan leaves, Ann finds out from Wally that he suspects Judy would have gone to hide out at his "shack" in the country. Joan goes straight to the laundry to tell the women that Judy has been charged with murdering Hazel. Marty tells Meg he has a new girlfriend and he's going out with her that evening. Ann and Wally search for Judy at his old place but she has left already. Petra forces Pixie to stop dithering and select a few of the letters to reply to. Lizzie blames herself for not sticking by Bea and for working with Joan and Sonia. She is interrupted by Joan who takes her with Pixie to the boiler room to bottle the grog. Joan puts Joyce Barry off the scent by explaining that she thought she heard a noise and wondered if there were rats in the boiler room. Meg tries unconvicningly to pretend that she wasn't waiting up for Marty when he gets back home late and finds she hasn't gone to bed. Phyllis and Sonia cover up for Lizzie in the showers, as she's suffering a hangover after too much sampling the product while bottling the grog. Petra starts asking questions, but Sonia tells her to mind her own business, or she'll stop her marriage going ahead. After all, she points out, her last request - that Bea should be transferred - was followed to the letter. Rosemary starts a factory job. Ann tells the officers there is a new contender for the top dog position: Cass Parker, who is to be transferred from Barnhurst after killing an officer there. Petra accepts Scott's proposal. Rosemary is so clumsy at packing that she gets the sack. Joan sends Joyce out of the rec room during buyup distribution then gives the women's buyup to Sonia and Phyllis. Cass arrives, but she seems friendly and docile. She is taken to Pixie and Lizzie's cell. Joan tells Phyllis she'll take her round after lights out to go and collect protection money. To Meg's horror, Marty's new girlfriend Jenni turns out to be Randi Goodlove .
