  • The Keep-Fit class ends with Jim about as winded as the women. Meg visits with Erica, who thanks her for the dinner. Erica then tell Meg that she must go to the country to sort through her mother's things. "Going through Mother's dresses", seems to especially upset her. Both Michelle and Henry meet with Tony Morton. The police have now established Michelle's fingerprints at the crime scene and, without the "mysterious old lady", things look worse than ever. Michelle shoots Henry a look. As he leaves, Henry assures Michelle that he'll do what he can. In the laundry, Doreen blows kisses and makes cooing noises at Lori. Vera enters and, sensing a good opportunity, tells Lori to help Doreen at the washer. Erica and James drive down to the country. James wants to sell the family home, Erica does not. Doreen purposely has Lori pour dye into the washer. Gwen brings Erica and James their mother's personal letters. Erica trembles before them, but James insists that she start reading them. The sheets come out of the water a deep blue. Vera yells at Lori and drags her out of the laundry. Erica is frozen over a particular letter. James asks her what's wrong. It is a love letter from their father to their mother. "Spring is here..." and the music plays as Erica reads the thing. Erica is profoundly moved that their parents once loved one another. Lori tells Vera that she didn't know it was dye she had used. Vera is prepared to believe her but advises her to wise up. Lori then meets with Meg for her report. She gives Meg nasty attitude. Meg doesn't understand this and informs Lori that if she is forced to hand in a bad report she could get a very severe sentence. This doesn't seem to register and Lori continues with the attitude. Jim wanders into Michelle's cell. She is moping about her missing witness. Jim agrees to go to the park and look for the woman as well. Judy has words with Doreen in the laundry, then Terry enters and informs Doreen and Bea that they are to have a new cellmate. Bea says it's probably "Some tart on the jungle juice". Terry informs them that its just Lizzie moving back from maternity. Bea smiles, "See, I was right." Erica and James say good-bye to Gwen and to the house. Michelle talks to Bea in the rec room, telling her that she intends to "produce" a witness. Bea thinks its a good idea. Lizzie returns and gets a letter from Sid. He is doing well and living with his family - but not getting on with his son, Gordon. Michelle gets a note from Henry reporting no luck so far. Meg takes Lori to Erica's office, but Lori continues to be unhelpful. Erica sends for Judy. While training some other runners in the park, Henry encounters Amelia Humber, a sweet little old lady who loves watching the athletes. It turns out she has even heard of Michelle's record runs. She use to follow Michelle on the telly, but now its broken and on her pension...the wheels turn in Henry's head. Judy comes to Erica's office and, upon being told of Lori's behavior, sets Lori straight. Lori agrees to cooperate. Lizzie visits Judy and asks what the story is with Lori. Judy can't tell her but thanks her for being understanding and not listening to gossip. Lori has overheard. When Lizzie leaves she tells her mother that she just doesn't understand the cover-up. But Judy will not be swayed. The next day brings heavy rain and the Keep-Fit class is held inside. When the other women tell her she is too old, Lizzie is outraged and goes to change for the class. The women run through the corridors. Lizzie hides out in a cell until they return then comes running in after them, fresh as a daisy and doing leg stretches with Michelle . Henry pulls Michelle aside and tells her he may have a potential "witness". Henry goes straight to Amelia's house and tells her Michelle's story. Amelia feels horribly sorry for Michelle and agrees to the plan - even before Henry insists she receive a new color TV in return. Lori tells Judy that she wants to get even with Doreen. Judy tells her not to be stupid. But Lori has a determinedly stupid look on her face. Michelle calls Henry, who tells her that Amelia will be in the park that night and that she must now get Jim out there even in the pouring rain. When she hangs up, Jim asks her if she is nervous about her trial the next morning. Michelle says she is and makes Jim swear faithfully to look in the park one last time. Lori confronts Doreen in her cell. They are about to come to blows, when Bea breaks them up. Bea tells Lori to get out but Lori holds her ground for a while before consenting. Bea is impressed with her guts - Doreen looks a tad worried herself. Lori goes into the rec room where the weather report issues torrential rain warnings. Michelle is not happy. Bea visits Judy and tells her that she'd better watch her "Piece of young stuff". Judy finally gives in and tells Bea the truth. Bea is flabbergasted and doesn't understand why Judy didn't tell them. Judy tells Bea the reason and Bea tells her that her friends certainly understand giving a child up for adoption. Remembering the Margo incident, Judy becomes very worried for Lori's safety. They dash to Doreen's cell and find Doreen gone. Bea quickly checks the hiding place where Doreen keeps the knife she took from Margo. The knife is gone.

  • Bea and Judy search for Doreen. Bea tells Lizzie to keep an eye on Lori. Lori claims she isn't at all frightened and that Doreen is too stupid to know what to do with a knife. Lizzie sits her down and tells her to shut up. Doreen saunters into the rec room. When Bea and Judy ask her about the knife, Doreen says she moved it. As Lori goes back to her cell Doreen has a naughty smirk that convinces Bea and Judy that she's up to something. When Bea forces Judy to tell the women about Lori's true identity, a shocked Doreen quickly confesses that she has set up a little "surprise"...Meanwhile, Lori is at the door of her cell having spotted a rope tied to something above the door. Vera catches her creeping into the cell and decides to investigate. Vera pushes the cell door open and a bucket of soap powder dumps on her head. In a rage, she hauls Lori off to solitary. Doreen tries to explain, but the powder-drenched Vera is in no mood to listen. An agitated Judy yells at the laughing women that they have to get Lori out of trouble. Vera throws Lori into solitary and asks if she's a perverted lesbian like her mother...or didn't she know. Lori puts a good face on it and says that she did. Vera smirks, says it takes one to know one, and slams the door shut. She then goes to Judy's cell and lets her know that she's told Lori about her. The next morning, Vera, still in a fury, is typing out her report when Jim asks if Michelle has left for trial. Vera says she has and throws in some snide remaks about his concern in the matter. Doreen explains the matter to Erica, who agrees that Doreen should take Lori's place in solitary. Erica also insists that Doreen apologize to Vera. Doreen reluctantly does so and Vera, after some sharp prodding from Erica, reluctantly accepts it. Lori is touched when Doreen arrives to take her place. Lizzie asks Erica for permision to visit Sid, who has moved back into his house. Erica agrees to arrange it. Judy expresses her fears to Bea that Lori may reject her after finding out about her. Judy goes to her cell and finds Lori there. Lori doesn't mind her mother's sexual orientation, but doesn't understand how she came about. Judy explains that immigrated to Australia after a school teacher she was having an affair with committed suicide. She then met a nice man and got pregnant. Evidently the man wasn't that nice, because he left Judy when he found out. Some short while after having Lori, Judy met a woman called Angela and came to terms with her lesbianism. She didn't, however, think it was the proper enviroment for Lori and gave her up for adoption. Mother and daughter embrace among much sobbing. Michelle returns from court having not gotten to trial that day. She tells JIm that gives him one more night to find her witness. Jim says he has to work late. The next day, Colleen comes to collect Lizzie and take her to Sid's. Coleen warns Lizzie that Sid is much changed after his stroke and that she should be prepared. On their way out they encounter Michelle on her way to court again. Jim wishes Michelle luck. She swishes her hair at him and walks out. Colleen tells Jim that out of all the women who come in protesting their innocence - she believes Michelle. Lizzie arrives at Sid's and finds him partially paralysed. She smiles bravely. At Michelle's trial, the Inspector testifies that the robbery was committed by someone who entered with a key, shut off the alarm and knew the safe combination. They know the time of the theft because the clock, which was wired to the alarm, stopped at 6:27PM. Of all the suspects, Michelle is the only one who does not have a proper alibi for that time. Henry leaves the court to go and get Amelia himself, but she is not at home. When Bea finds out that it is Lori's 21st birthday the next week, she plans a party. Lizzie fixes Sid some lunch and tries to get him to agree to Meals On Wheels. Meg tells Lori that she intends to give a good report, but that Lori must make a good impression on the judge. Lori says that now that she knows who she is she is ready to get out. Michelle's boss testifies that she was fired because of constant absences due to her running and that, upon being fired, Michelle threatened to get even. Michelle sees Henry return without a witness. Jim decides to go for a run on his lunch break. Meg comments on the pitiful condition of his running shoes. Jim says they're his lucky shoes. Colleen comes to take Lizzie back to Wentworth, but allows the two a chance to say good-bye in private. When Lori tells the women that she may be out before her birthday, they advise her not to count her chickens before they're hatched. Besides, Bea decides if Lori is released they'll simply move the party up and make it a fancy dress so that everyone will enjoy it. Michelle takes the stand. She insists she was running between 6 and 7 and that she doesn't know why no one recalls seeing her or why the police can't locate her witness. In the judge's advice to the jury, he doesn't seem too impressed by Miss Parks. Michelle looks frantic...

While running in the park, Jim comes across Amelia and speaks with her. He shows her a photograph of Michelle and she recognizes her. Amelia says she hasn't seen Michelle in a couple of weeks and, when Jim asks her about the night in question, Amelia says she remembers see her that night because it was the night of her deceased friend's birthday and she was depressed. She also recalls the time - between 6 and 7 - because she always walks at that time. An ecstatic Jim whisks her off to court. Michelle's judge is winding down his gloomy summation when Jim and Amelia come in. Because the defense has vital new information, court is adjourned until the next morning. Lizzie returns to the rec room after visiting Sid and is told of the planned birthday celebration. Lizzie asks the women if they will all join together and knit things for Sid. They all agree. A chirpy Jim returns to work, followed closely by Michelle. She bats her eyes and thanks him. The women are busily knitting in the rec room, when Michelle enters and asks to speak to Bea privately. Later that night, Doreen and Lizzie question Bea about the conversation but don't get much response. Lizzie pesters Colleen about looking after Sid and setting up his Meals On Wheels. Colleen rolls her eyes and says she'll see to it. Lizzie then asks if she and Doreen can have kitchen duty in order to cheer herself up. Colleen rolls her eyes and agrees. Amelia takes the stand. As well as testifying to the things she told Jim, she says she didn't come forward sooner because she has a broken TV and can't read newsprint. When the prosecuter hassles her a bit further, Amelia states, "Young man, I am not in the habit of telling lies!" And that. pretty much, is that. The judge gives a new final summation with quite a different slant. While in the kitchen, Lizzie decides to bake a cake for Sid and Doreen starts stashing goods for the party. Michelle is acquitted. Outside the court she thanks Amelia and promises her a new color TV. When Jim tells this to Colleen, Colleen wonders where Michelle got the money. A light begins to dawn on Jim. Bea is upset with Doreen for stealing stuff from the kitchen as she wants the party to be legit. Lizzie asks Colleen to take her cake to Sid. At first Colleen is angry at Lizzie for taking advantage of the situation, but then she agrees to do it. Michelle is training in the park, while Henry and Amelia confess to not being completely at ease with what they've done. But they believe Michelle is innocent and that it was therefore worth a little perjury. Back in the rec room, Bea asks Jim what happened to Michelle. He tells her. Bea smiles and says, "So she got away with it". Jim asks her to repeat herself, so she says something else, but the light grows a little brighter over Mr. Fletcher. Bea later tells Lizzie and Doreen the truth about Michelle. Michelle committed the theft. She has discovered that the clock was wired to the alarm and her plan was to set the clock to 10:30PM when she was to be at a party. But her boss came in unexpectedly and she barely got out undetected. So the clock remained accurate. She only took $5,000, her boss lied about the additional 3. Michelle confided all of this to Bea as a way of saying thanks. Henry arrives at Wentworth to continue with the Keep- Fit program. Despite Colleen's protests, Vera cuts up Lizzie's cake to make sure nothing is being smuggled out. She tells Colleen that the women will only use her. Bea tells Jim and Henry what they can do with the Keep-Fit program. Kathleen Margaret Hall is inducted on a charge of theft and possession at the same time as Dinah Walford. Dinah is sent to D block, Kathy to H. Michelle meets Jim after work with a gift - a very expensive pair of new running shoes. Jim says he's suddenly lost his interest in running and walks off. Bea, Lizzie and Doreen meet Kathy. Vera overhears Lizzie saying how she's going to bake scones for Sid next because she has Colleen wrapped around her finger. Vera informs Lizzie that her kitchen duty is over and that Colleen turned her in. Lizzie cries. Bea asks Erica for permission to hold Lori's party. Erica agrees. Sid visits Lizzie and tells her how much he enjoyed the cake. Lizzie is happy to know Colleen didn't dob her in. Kathy meets Jim. Bea tells her he's all right, but the one they have to watch out for is Terry Harrison. The name rings a bell for Kathy - but she can't imagine the Terry she knew having become a screw. Sid meets up with Erica, who gives him permission to visit H block after Vera had said "no". Kathy finds a note on her bed which reads "Shut Your Trap". After visiting with the women, Sid leaves. On his way out he bends down to do some weeding (!) and has an attack. For some not very good reason, Lizzie and Doreen bring the contraband from the kitchen into the rec room, which is promptly discovered by Vera. Vera says the party will be cancelled. Terry comes across the new prisoner in her cell with her back to him. Kathy turns around - Terry looks shocked. "What's the matter?" Kathy asks, "Don't you recognize your old wife?"

  • Terry is not happy to see Kathy. He advises her to keep quiet about their marriage as it might put her in danger from other prisoners. Since she has already received a threat, Kathy agrees. Bea is upset with Lizzie and Doreen about ruining Lori's party. Jim runs in and tells them to get a stretcher for Sid who has collapsed. Sid doesn't want to be carried by women, but Bea tells him to get on the stretcher for Lizzie's sake. In the infirmary, Sister says that Sid is fine - he merely overexerted himself. Lizzie speaks to Meg and Erica about an early parole so that she can take care of Sid. They agree to do what they can. In the laundry, Bea warns Kathy again about working out any "arrangements" with Terry. Vera walks in and Doreen tells Kathy that Vera likes to be chummy with the prisoners and to be called by her first name. Kathy calls her Vera and is immediately shot down. Kathy laughs at the joke and is surprised to find out Vera is involved with Terry. Meg tells Lori that her foster parents have been informed and that both her report and Lori's own testimony must blame her actions on Judy's influence. Lori is appalled, but Judy insists she go along with Meg's advise. Bea notices Terry and Kathy avoiding one another and demands to know what's going on. Kathy tells them she was married to Terry 12 years before. Bea is somewhat concerned that Kathy will inform for Terry, but Kathy reassures her that there is nothing between them and that she's married again (Her current hubby is in Pentridge). Kathy also goes down the list of men she knew between Terry and her husband..."Well, you've got to be nice to people." Kathy then receives another threatening note in her cell. She asks Vera to speak to Terry. Vera doesn't understand why Terry should be interested in seeing her, so Kathy tells her why. Vera runs to the staff room and confronts Terry about his past marriage. Terry owns up. Evidently Kathy cheated on him the entire time, got pregnant, got drunk, lost the baby and that was that. Vera thinks Kathy should be transferred to Barnhurst, but Terry wants to keep on eye on her - especially as she receiving threats. He also wants the relationship kept private for Kathy's safety. Vera agrees. Lori is released and says good-bye to Judy. Erica visits Sid to discuss the idea of Lizzie living with him. Sid thinks its a keen idea. Kathy turns to Bea for help with the threats. Bea says the only prisoners not accountable for the time they were placed would be Mouse and Dinah Walford - but she really doesn't think its Mouse. Kathy says Dinah did come in with her, but she'd never seen her prior to that. Lizzie asks for another day out to see Sid and Erica grants the request. Meg drops Lizzie off. Judy visits Bea for coffee since her jug is not working. Judy is afraid Lori won't want anything to do with her once she's home again. Bea says that's nonsense and finds out her jug isn't working either. She reports this to Terry. Lizzie presents Sid with a newly-knitted cardigan. Sid then presents Lizzie with a marriage proposal. Lizzie, though deeply moved, wants time to think it over. Meg finds out that Lizzie's application for special parole has been denied. Terry checks the fuse box and finds something not right. He then starts checking the power points in the cells. Meg picks up Lizzie, who promises Sid an answer soon. Terry finds a wired jug in Kathy's cell and takes it at once to Erica. Erica is annoyed at Terry's unfortunate habit of not passing information on to her (In this case Death Threats) and has Kathy sent for. The wired jug scares Kathy, but she is clueless as to who would want to harm her. Erica takes the rigged pot to the laundry and asks the women for help. Bea agrees to do what she can. Bea visits Kathy in her cell with her own jug. Kathy has already gotten a new one and makes them some coffee. Bea says the last prisoner to have death threats was Tracey Morris - who was involved in drugs. Kathy assures Bea she has nothing to do with drugs, or any other hard crime, and goes to drink her coffee. Bea swipes the mug out of her hand. The coffee is mixed with ground glass.

  • Bea and Judy give Kathy's cell a thorough check for any more booby-traps. Inspector Grace arrives to see Kathy. Vera is most unpleasant to him and explains to Terry that she's had dealings with him in the past. Dinah eavesdrops on this conversation. Bea and Judy are concerned about Lizzie, who is moping about and won't reveal why. Terry arrives to take Kathy to Grace. Kathy doesn't want to go and Bea tells her she doesn't have to. Terry then points out that if she doesn't go the police will certainly suspect she knows more than she does. Bea concedes to this point and Kathy goes with Terry. While in the corridor, the riot alarm is sounded. Terry leaves Kathy behind a locked gate while he goes to investigate. Dinah sneaks up behind Kathy and smashes her head into the gate twice. Terry finds her a minute later unconscious. Jim tells the women in the laundry that Kathy has been bashed. Bea is getting pretty irritated with the unknown assailant. Grace wants to know why the riot alarm went off and why Kathy hasn't been brought to him. He informs Vera that he has plenty of other things to do. Vera suggests that he go and do them. Jim comes on the scene and also stalls Grace. Grace gets fed up and leaves. Terry follows him outside and offers to try and find out information from Kathy, who, he informs the inspector, was attacked during the false alarm. At meal time, Bea questions Dinah about her whereabouts during the assault. Dinah claims to have been in D block but both Bea and Judy are highly suspicious. Jim questions Vera about the incident. The similarities to Margo's bashing concern him and he wants to make sure Terry isn't "cultivating informers" again. Vera blurts out that Terry and Kathy were married and then rushes out leaving Jim in utter amazement. Dinah Walford leaves Wentworth as Alison Marie Page is inducted for a three month sentence for theft. Erica speaks to Alison, who quite evidently is not prepared to adjust to the situation. She is a "nice" middle-class housewife with a "nice" family and cannot understand being locked up with "These kind" of women. The next morning, Vera yells at Alison for not making her bed properly. Bea comes in and very nicely shows her how. She also lays down the law - but nicely. Nonetheless, Alison does much whimpering and trembling. Erica calls in Terry and confronts him about his past marriage. She believes Kathy should be transferred, but Terry talks her out of it, claiming he can watch her in Wentworth and keep her safe. Lizzie is still down in the dumps when Kathy returns from the infirmary, bruised but fine. Bea lets Kathy know she believes the basher to have been Dinah, but, since Dinah has left, there should be no more trouble. Alison meets with Meg and begs to be released. Meg tells her that's impossible and Alison shudders. Meg suggests Alison seek help for her gambling addiction while inside to help keep her from stealing to cover her debts. Alison just shudders some more. When Jim brings Alison into the laundry, Bea makes a rare request to use her phone privileges. Jim agrees, leaving Judy to help Alison. Judy is very friendly, but Doreen takes an instant dislike to her. Bea telephones Sid and tells him about Lizzie's condition. He agrees to come see her immediately. Erica's been asked to speak at some club, and Meg suggests its an excellent opportunity for Erica to bring up her idea for an attendance centre. Sid arrives and finds out from Meg that Lizzie's parole has been denied. He believes this is what is bothering her. Erica arranges for them to meet in the garden. Inspector Grace comes to see Kathy again. Kathy is describing her bashing to a shuddering Alison when Terry arrives to take her to see Grace. Grace drops a lot of names to Kathy, who is vaguely familiar with some of them but knows nothing of their criminal connections. Lizzie confesses to Sid that she feels marrying him would cause trouble among his friends and family. Sid doesn't care about any of that and Lizzie accepts his proposal. Sid then gives her a diamond engagment ring - reset from his wife's. The women notice the rock on her finger at once and a joyous Lizzie accepts their congratulations. Erica tells Sid that being married might greatly help Lizzie next parole hearing. Grace feels that Kathy is truthful in her statements, but Terry expresses doubt. Lizzie visits Alison in her cell and, even though Alison is horribly rude, coaxes her to come to the rec room. In the rec room, Doreen and Lorna have an arguement over what TV program to watch and Alison has a breakdown. A disgusted Doreen and Lorna turn on Alison, who Judy then tries to comfort. Alison pushes her away in hysterics and Judy runs to get Bea. The other women begin to descend on Alison...
