Joan breathes a sigh of relief and Ettie decides she's had enough of life behind bars. Nora faces a bleak future - unlike Jennifer, whose prospects suddenly look brighter.Meg ~ Elspeth Ballantyne Joan ~ Maggie Kirkpatrick Ann ~ Gerda Nicolson Joyce ~ Joy Westmore Nora ~ Sonja Tallis May ~ Billie Hammerberg Willie ~ Kirsty Child Dennis ~ Nigel Bradshaw Daphne ~ Debra Lawrence Lexie ~ Pepe Trevor Lou ~ Louise Siversen Julie ~ Jackie Woodburne Ettie ~ Lois Ramsay Jenny ~ Jenny Lovell Queenie Marshall ~ Marilyn Rodgers Geoff McCrae ~ Les Dayman Lionel Fellowes ~ Will Deumer Dr Kenny ~ David Robson Pat Slattery ~ Dorothy Cutts Det Crabb ~ James Patrick Mick Kirby ~ Neil Melville Alan Desmond ~ Peter Craig Kay Desmond ~ SallyAnn Bourne Andrew Fry ~ Howard Bell Henchman ~ David Beresh Nurse ~ Nicki Woolington Willie refers to one of the other prisoners as "Jacko Kennedy" - another case of "sisters" inside Wentworth? | Daphne finds Jenny sobbing on her bed after her visit from her solicitor. Joan confronts Fellowes: she gives him the prosecution papers in Ruth's case for him to pass on to Arnold Ballinger in return for calling off the contract. Meg is undecided whether to tell Dennis the truth about his condition. Queenie Marshall arrives at Wentworth: she is on a week's sentence for beating up a customer for not paying her (though, as she points out, it was easy as he was already tied up). Nora is told that shooting the terrorist won't affect her parole. When she hears that Mick Kirby, one of the men who could be the father of her child, is coming to visit her, she worries he will try to claim the child. May tries to cheer up Jenny by telling her that she knew her parents (though in fact she only burgled them). Meg is confused that Ettie is now keen to get out of prison. As Joan is sorting through the debris of her burnt out kitchen, she gets a call from Fellowes to tell her that Arnie Ballinger has accepted her terms and she's off the hook. Queenie's brashness and tactlessness annoy Nora and May. Daphne's bouquet for Myra moves Willie to tears. Jenny asks to be allowed to work as she intends to take a more positive attitude. Nora attends Myra's funeral with Ann and is introduced to Geoff . Back at Wentworth, the women remember Myra in their own way. May suggests they have a two minutes silence, which is broken by Joan wanting to know why they aren't working. Geoff tells Ann that Judy couldn't get to the funeral as she's on a promotional tour with Sheila. Jenny plays some Bach, as it was Myra's favourite. Mick talks to Nora when she returns from the funeral: he reassures her he only wants them to live as a family. Nora says she doesn't want to share her child with anyone. Andrew Fry from the Department agrees to the Council's requests if they will sign waivers for compensation over the siege. Queenie recognises him as one of her kinky customers ("Cuddlebums"): he leaves in a hurry refusing to explain to Ann. Lou gets to come to the next Council meeting after suggesting the women do claim for compensation after all. Queenie's description of her brothel inspires Ettie with the idea to set up a home for girls with her money. Meg tries to raise Dennis' spirits as the doctor recommends, but he seems to have given up. Julie worries that her mother isn't answering the phone. Lou warns Lexie not to try to stop her getting a place on the Council. Ann is amazed to get a phone call to tell her that Andrew Fry has resigned. Lexie comes to the rec room after being bashed by Lou. Nora and May go to Lou's cell to pay her back, and in the fight Nora is punched in the stomach . |

Nora attempts to wreak vengeance on Lou when her baby dies, but Joyce arrives in the nick of time. Lou reaffirms her authority by beating one of the women. Jenny realises that her aunt might not be what she appears. Dennis has something to hide from Meg.Meg ~ Elspeth Ballantyne Joan ~ Maggie Kirkpatrick Ann ~ Gerda Nicolson Joyce ~ Joy Westmore Nora ~ Sonja Tallis May ~ Billie Hammerberg Willie ~ Kirsty Child Dennis ~ Nigel Bradshaw Daphne ~ Debra Lawrence Lexie ~ Pepe Trevor Lou ~ Louise Siversen Julie ~ Jackie Woodburne Ettie ~ Lois Ramsay Jenny ~ Jenny Lovell Alice ~ Lois Collinder Mervin ~ Ernie Bourne Mick Kirby ~ Neil Melville Peter Moss ~ Telford Jackson Dr Kenny ~ David Robson Mr O'Laughlan ~ Denzil Howson Sister Hall ~ Gael Andrews Kath ~ Michele Sargent Officer Hagen ~ Christine Andrew Officer Davies ~ Cheryl Ballantine Officer Radcliffe ~ Marion Dimmick Denzil Howson's name is misspelt "Densil" in the credits. The "vote" on whether Jenny should play the piano results in 9 for and 13 against, but there seem to be only 20 women in the rec room including Lou and Jenny who do not vote. | Meg confesses to Ann that she won't be able to look after Dennis. Nora has a miscarriage and loses her baby, but she won't lag on Lou and claims she slipped. Meg tells the women about Nora's miscarriage and notices that both May and Lexie seem to have been in a fight and asks them if they know anything. Daphne nearly tells all, but manages to hold it in. Lou is confident she's on the way to becoming top dog and gets Kath and Alice to go round the women and check on her "popularity". Daphne goes to see Nora in the infirmary and prattles on while Nora looks straight ahead of her blankly (to the accompaniment of some terrible heavenly chorus type music). She eventually tells Daphne she believes her baby was taken from her as punishment for killing again. Ann asks the officers to keep an eye on Daphne for symptoms of depression and tells them that Dennis won't be returning to work. Julie amazes Jenny by her knowledge of classical music. Joan is elected unopposed as Union Rep to replace Dennis (despite Meg saying she would exercise her right to vote?) Jenny tells Julie about her Aunt, who married a man her grandmother didn't approve of and wasn't heard from again until recently. Julie suggests she should contact her aunt. Lou makes a stand over Jenny playing the piano in the rec room and clouts May when she stands up to her. Ann is asked by the Minister to take over Fry's job, and tells Meg she is being considered as a possible Governor, but says she hasn't made up her mind yet whether she can work with the "awful people" at the Department. Lou takes over the press in the laundry from May and sends her off on laundry pickup. Mick visits Nora in hospital to offer his condolences and says they could try again to have a child, but Nora tells him she was only using him and has no feelings for him. Jenny's lawyer tells her Aunt Harriet doesn't want to see her and is trying to have the will invalidated. Nora returns from hospital, and Lou taunts her that she seems to have lost weight. All the women watch to see what will happen, but Nora sits down meekly without saying a word. Ettie now wants to get out and doesn't understand why Ann can't just let her out. Ann tells the Council that classes have been approved, and the Council agree to sign the waivers after Julie says there is not much chance of them succeeding with any claims for compensation anyway. Mervin sympathises with Nora by telling her about how much he misses his Aunt Nellie who encouraged his interest in cookery. Julie is belatedly given the news by Ann that her mother has been admitted to hospital and is not expected to survive. Lou tells the women she's set up an insurance scheme and all of them are expected to pay up fifty cents a day. Ettie tells her solicitor that she wants to change her plea to innocent. Joan vows that the Union will oppose the classes, even though Joyce and Officer Davies are in favour. Mervin has an epileptic seizure in the kitchen in front of Lexie and Nora: he begs them not to tell anyone as he did not declare his epilepsy on his job application. Dennis is more optimistic when Meg visits him in hospital, and he is looking forward to coming home. As Union representative, Joan vetoes having an officer accompany Julie to visit to her mother after Joyce overhears her saying she will escape and cites the precedents of "Smith, Latham, Kean" who all escaped on hospital visits. Nora lies in wait for Lou and tries to strangle her in her cell, but is stopped in time by Joyce. |

Nora loses her parole by refusing to dob on Lou. Things don't look good for Lexie's early release either. Meanwhile, Julie works out a way to get permission from the union to visit her mother.Meg ~ Elspeth Ballantyne Joan ~ Maggie Kirkpatrick Ann ~ Gerda Nicolson Joyce ~ Joy Westmore Nora ~ Sonja Tallis May ~ Billie Hammerbeg Willie ~ Kirsty Child Dennis ~ Nigel Bradshaw Daphne ~ Debra Lawrence Lexie ~ Pepe Trevor Lou ~ Louise Siversen Julie ~ Jackie Woodburne Ettie ~ Lois Ramsay Jenny ~ Jenny Lovell Queenie ~ Marilyn Rodgers Geoffrey Chaucer ~ Roy Baldwin Mary Burns ~ Trish Mulholland Douglas Hopwood ~ Kristopher Steele Thelma Hawkins ~ Paula Langlands Albert James ~ Alan Rowe Pat Slattery ~ Dorothy Cutts Harriet Formby ~ Maggie Steven Steve Formby ~ Mark Mitchell Nurse ~ Betina Eijsma Neighbour Number 1 ~ Rusty Chilcott Neighbour Number 2 ~ Peter Cameron UNCREDITEDMervin ~ Ernie BourneThe "law" book Julie is reading seems from the page that appears on screen to be about the forensic pathology service. | Nora won't lag on Lou for causing her miscarriage even though it will affect the parole hearing the following day. Lexie nearly gives the game away about Mervin's epilepsy in front of Joyce. Julie begs Ann to accompany her visit, but Ann says she has been forbidden by the Department to get involved in a Union dispute. Daphne challenges Lou to do something to help Julie get her visit to her mother if she wants to be top dog, but Lou says she will have to pay her insurance first. Mervin tells Joyce about his epilepsy, but she seems embarrassed to discuss the matter. Lexie looks forward to getting out when she gets her parole. Lou tries to heavy Queenie to pay her insurance, but Queenie points out she's getting out tomorrow, so why should she pay? Dennis comes out of hospital in a wheelchair. Joyce fails to control the women or involve them in a serious discussion during the session set aside for classes. Ann challenges Joan for her attitude and says her father would have been very disappointed in her attitude. Queenie gives Julie an idea by mentioning the PGA (Professional Girls Association) who petitioned the Commissioner for Human Rights. Dennis has to be carried up the steps to his flat. Julie goes to Ann, who agrees to phone the Commissioner's office. Dennis has a bit of difficulty with his wheelchair and a sheepskin rug. Mr Fry's replacement Geoffrey Chaucer arrives to conduct the parole board and reacts to Pat's name with a bon mot ("Slattery will get you nowhere"). Aunt Harriet and her husband Steven visit Jenny to make it clear she is not to try to contact them ever again. Lexie blows her parole hearing by replying to the board's stupid questions and failing to be contrite enough. Ann coldly informs Harriet Formby she cannot stop Jenny contacting her, but after meeting her she will certainly be advising her not to do so. Lou makes a statement to the Parole Board in Nora's support and admits it was her who caused Nora's miscarriage (though only after Queenie had reminded her it is in her interests that Nora gets released). May points out to Jenny that Aunt Harriet has a possible motive, since if Jenny was serving a life sentence, she would inherit in her place. Nora is not granted parole. Joan approaches Geoffrey Chaucer to undermine Ann's position over Julie's visit, but Ann overhears and buts in to put her own point of view. Queenie is released early with a five thousand dollar payoff from Mr Fry. Willie gives her money to get some goods in from the outside. May appeals to Myra's memory to persuade Nora to step in as top dog. Julie gets her visit and Ann says she will accompany her. Lou heavies Lexie to pay up her insurance: Nora stops her and tells Lou she is taking over the press. |

Julie has a last chance to see her mother. Nora wipes the slate clean for all the other women. Dennis finds life at home is increasingly difficult. Lexie blackmails Mervin over his epilepsy.Meg ~ Elspeth Ballantyne Joan ~ Maggie Kirkpatrick Ann ~ Gerda Nicolson Joyce ~ Joy Westmore Nora ~ Sonja Tallis May ~ Billie Hammerberg Willie ~ Kirsty Child Dennis ~ Nigel Bradshaw Daphne ~ Debra Lawrence Lexie ~ Pepe Trevor Lou ~ Louise Siversen Julie ~ Jackie Woodburne Ettie ~ Lois Ramsay Jenny ~ Jenny Lovell Alice ~ Lois Collinder Mervin ~ Ernie Bourne Terri ~ Margot Knight Pat Slattery ~ Dorothy Cutts Mrs Egbert ~ Di Greentree Judge Boreham ~ Graham Dow Ridley Durham ~ Earl Francis [L] Mr O'Lachlan ~ Denzil Howson Crown Prosecutor ~ Victor Kazan [R] Peter Moss ~ Telford Jackson Steve Formby ~ Mark Mitchell Frank Bolton ~ Terry Emery Off. Radcliffe ~ Marion Dimmick Dennis reacts to Pat Slattery answering the phone by remarking on her "Lancashire accent". Really? Daphne guesses - apparently correctly - that Joan is a Scorpio. | Ann takes Julie to hospital: she asks Julie why she pretends to be a lot less intelligent than she is and offers to give her a clerical job in reception. All the women go to typing class and leave Lou alone in the laundry. Julie's mother tells Ann about how Julie sent her on a cruise with the money she stole, allowing her to see more of the world than just Moonee Ponds. Alice and Kath are won over by Nora's suggestion of a truce, leaving Lou without any support. Dennis refuses to let Meg take another day off work to look after him. Joan is criticised by Pat and Joyce for her attitude to Julie's visit and even Terri doesn't take Joan's side. Meg tells Ann she can't take over as Governor if Ann leaves for the job at the Department because of Dennis. Nora lets the women take turns to operate the press if they've "earned" it, despite the shocked reactions that it's the top dog's province. Dennis phones Meg at work to apologise for being in a bad mood that morning. Ann decides to inspect the work areas to see how the five thousand pounds she has been given could be spent, but finds the women larking about. Nora promises they will meet the quotas even if her control is relaxed. Joan tries to convince Terri she was right over her stance on Julie's visit. Jenny fires her lawyer when he won't hire a private detective to follow Aunt Harriet, as she suspects he's been paid off by her. May suggests she could hire the lawyer who defended her (and lost). Joan is curt with Dennis when he phones the prison again wanting to speak to Meg. After finding that her parole has been turned down, Lexie blackmails Mervin into getting her whatever she wants by threatening to reveal his epilepsy. Joan is told to step down as Union Rep by the Union official after the trouble she's caused. She refuses, but promises she will consult the membership in future. Queenie's goods disappoint Willie - the parcel contains bath pearls and other items hardly more useful, like a set of false nails. Nora replies to Joan's scorn at her being top dog by declaring "I'm not Myra or Bea Smith. I'm not trying to be." (You said it, lady!) Joyce lets slip to Dennis that Meg is being considered for the position of Governor. Ettie wears the false nails given to her by Willie when she goes to court. Daphne digs up a gun in the garden and brings it inside with her. At Ettie's trial, the judge initially appears to lose patience with Ettie's lack of logic. Julie is called to to the Governor's office to be told that her mother has died. The jury at Ettie's trial retire to consider their verdict - as they file out we can see that (once again) there are only six of them. Daphne takes Nora to her cell to give Nora the gun, but it has gone, though the money that was with it is still there. Steven Formby visits Jenny and practically confesses to her that he murdered her grandmother, admitting that he regrets that he chose "the wrong one" and wishes that he had courted her instead.. |
