After dismissing Joan from supervising the laundry because the women are having a "legit union meeting", Reb tells the women that Erica is coming to negotiate at her insistence. Cass reacts angrily to a casual remark by Bobbie, which isn't even directed at her. Reb tells Phyllis she expects her to get the drugs back from Judy and Myra. Pixie diverts Phyllis and Alice with a phony story about a diamond, and she overhears (as intended) Myra plotting to flush the dope down the toilet: Phyllis reports the news back to Reb. Reb runs to the shower block, and finds that Myra actually intends to force the dope down her throat. Reb freaks out and Alice and Phyllis have to keep her out of the officers' way. Reb is locked in for the night with Bobbie, and starts to rave. Ann plucks up courage to tell Jonathan about her mastectomy, and he tells her it doesn't matter to him. Rick has to rescue Bobbie from Reb's violent "trip". Ann has to leave Jonathan in bed, when Joan calls her back to Wentworth to see Reb: Reb is taken to hospital. Phyllis and Meg both have a complete change of personality. Ann informs Colleen that the hospital have ruled out cocaine as the drug Reb took and have pumped her stomach to do further tests. Erica arrives to negotiate over the strike . Jonathan changes Phyllis back to her old self. Hannah Geldschmidt, an East German illegal immigrant, is inducted on a charge of attacking a man . Erica agrees to the women's terms as stated by Judy and Myra, but cannot accept the claim for a 50% wage increase. Hannah reacts badly to the sight of the shower, but is reassured when Joan switches it on: Joan notices she has a number tattooed on her arm , and Hannah tells her the man she attacked was a Nazi. Erica concedes to Ann privately that the Department is prepared to increase the women's wages by 30% and if they accept that she feels the Department will accept their other demands. Pixie goes to Bobbie's cell to collect something from her locker, and while she is bent over Cass attempts to strangle her with a kettle flex, believing her to be Bobbie .

  • Hannah's nightmare is done with such clumsiness that it makes it look like a joke (in staggeringly bad taste, it must be said). As such it deserves a page all to itself....

Cass sits in the dining room with Judy and Myra: when Judy asks where Bobbie is, Cass replies it doesn't matter as she "won't be needing lunch". When Bobbie fetches Colleen to help Pixie, Cass realises she got the wrong person. Still in her "Joan" persona, Meg heavies Hannah when she finds her in her cell and Hannah replies that she doesn't want to eat. Pixie tells Colleen she didn't see who attacked her: Colleen is puzzled as she can't think of anyone who would want to hurt her. Cass demands to see Dr Edmunds, who hypnotises her again to convince her of her alibi, but also to reinforce her hatred for Bobbie. Alice and Lou make smutty suggestions about what goes on in Dr Edmunds' sessions. Hannah panics when Ann tells her she is to be deported. Bobbie finds out from the police that the drugs fed to Reb were angel dust not cocaine. Cass accuses Bobbie of attacking Pixie out of jealousy over the amount of time she spends talking to Rick. Jonathan invites Meg out to a restaurant to dinner. Ann warns Judy and Myra not to be stubborn about the Department's offer and tells them privately that they are willing to pay 30%. Lou and Alice torment Hannah - ironically, for being a "Nazi". The women are disgusted with Erica's duplicity and vote to hold out for the full 50%. Jonathan slimily gets Ann to postpone their date for the following evening. Ann says she considering putting Hannah in isolation but is determined that Hannah will not be sent back to East Germany. Jonathan suggests Hannah should try to claim refugee status, as if she was sent back to East Germany she could be declared an "enemy of the state" and sent to a "labour camp". Judy and Myra take Hannah some food: she tells them how she escaped to West Germany and travelled from there on a forged passport and a two week visa to look for relatives in Australia. They take Hannah to the rec room to prove that all the women aren't hostile - an exercise somewhat undermined by Lou's wisecracks. Rick is invited to dinner with Rachel and her father: she warns him not to feel under pressure from his clumsy attempts at matchmaking. Hannah is locked in her cell despite her protests and has a nightmare of her childhood featuring Joan as a Nazi concentration camp guard: she is woken by Joan and when Colleen arrives on the scene she accuses Joan of stubbing a cigarette out in her hand, as the guard did in her nightmare. When Joan challenges Meg about her recent inconsistencies of behaviour and Colleen admits even she was surprised, she indignantly denies it. Cass makes friends with Bobbie and asks her to meet her later in the shower block to uncover the identity of Pixie's attacker. Erica announces the Department's new offer: 30% and all other conditions, but Myra tells her the women won't accept anything less than 50%, and accuses Ann of priming them to accept the lower offer. When Myra and Judy have left, Ann tells Erica she only has herself to blame for the way she handled the strike. Bobbie goes to meet Cass, armed with a broken saucer. Ann tells Meg the Department have caved in, and announces over the PA that Erica will be coming round after work to make an announcement. Pixie tells Bobbie she knows she didn't attack her and pointedly asks if Cass has said anything to her about it. Erica announces that all conditions and the 50% pay rise have been agreed by the Department. Bobbie meets Cass in the shower block and Cass pulls out the broken saucer behind her back. The women return to the rec room to find Reb waiting for them.

  • Reb tells Myra her days are numbered. Joan catches Cass as she is moving in on Bobbie: Pixie is relieved to see Bobbie still in one piece, and Cass is now back to normal, but is bewildered that Cass seems not to know anything about the attack on her. Jonathan agrees to talk to Pixie after Erica suggests she is the obvious person for him. Hannah tells Judy and Myra that Joan reminds her of a Nazi officer and that was why she got her nightmare confused with reality. Colleen walks into the staff room to find Jonathan in the act of kissing Meg, and raises the question for Meg as to what Jonathan will do when his work at Wentworth is over. Lou nudges Hannah into ripping the billiard table: Myra pins her to the table with a cue. Klaus Werner from the German Consulate advises Ann that Hannah has to be deported because she is not eligible for refugee status as she entered the country on a (false) West German passport. Pixie stays close to Bobbie, making Judy suspicious that she knows something. Hannah is appalled to be told she has to go back to Germany, even when she is told she is going to West Germany. Colleen admits to Meg that she's a bit worried at the prospect of open days for the prisoners. Ann drops a hint to Meg to contact the press about Hannah, saying that if anyone were to make an anonymous call there wouldn't be much she could do about it. When Judy asks to see Ann about Hannah, Ann pointedly tells her no-one is to contact the press about Hannah's case, and especially not Camilla Wells. Colleen supervises the call and stops her talking when the realises who she is talking to. Colleen tells Meg about stopping the call and complains to Ann that the women are being encouraged to break the rules. Someone nevertheless contacts a newspaper reporter, Steve Lockhart. Rick gives Rachel the highly rare record of the Beach Boys "Live in London". Pixie gives up marriage after talking to Dr Edmunds. Rick and Rachel get serious and go out on a date to see some terrible old films. When Pixie asks Cass if she was talking to Bobbie when she was attacked, Cass has a flashback and remembers strangling Pixie. Hannah wakes up screaming and attacks Joan when she goes to see what the trouble is: Colleen is amazed that Joan does not want to report the incident. Ann embarrasses Colleen when she lets slip that she is also being courted by Jonathan. After Hannah's story makes the front page , Ann tells the officers that she expects to be told who leaked Hannah's story to the press. Jonathan sees Phyllis again and changes her back to her usual nasty self. Hannah deliberately taunts Lou and Frances to get herself bashed. When Meg makes flattering remarks about Jonathan, Colleen says she hopes she isn't getting too attached to him and tells Meg that Jonathan is also seeing Ann. Meg goes to Jonathan's office to confront him: he tries to persuade her he isn't really serious about Ann, but Ann walks in and Meg leaves hurriedly. Hannah's deportation is postponed for up to two weeks to allow her to recover .

When challenged by Myra, Reb admits she set her heavies on Hannah, and recruits Phyllis to help in a deal and get back at the "goodies". Erica arrives to see Ann and Joan points out the reporter from the Dispatch waiting in reception. Ann tells Meg she knows about Meg and Jonathan, but she only means the story he fed her about the two of them not seeing eye to eye in the way the women are treated. The women decide to get up a petition to support Hannah: Judy is determined that everyone will sign it, but Reb says she and Phyllis aren't going to. Steve Lockhart has received calls from people who think they might be Hannah's relatives, but Erica won't let him see her. He also says in front of Erica that the call came from Wentworth and seems to assume it was from Ann. Rachel tells Rick she's worried about her father overdoing things for a man of his age. As the women are signing the petition in the laundry, Joan confiscates it, but Judy asks Meg what she thinks about the idea and she says she thinks it's a great idea and takes it to Ann to sign. Ann asks Judy if she tried to make another call, but she says she didn't. Joan objects to Meg undermining her in front of the women, but is forced to climb down when Erica says the women are within their rights to protest. Charlie visits Cass again to give her the sash for "Prize Winning Sow of 1984 - Victorian Pig Breeders Show" that Lucy was given at the show. Myra goes to make Reb sign the petition after Phyllis reminds her that she publicly refused, but it is a set-up, and Reb and Phyllis attack her, though Myra gains the upper hand. Rachel and Rick witness Pop being knocked down in a hit and run accident : he is taken to hospital. The driver fails a breathalyser test and is taken to the police station. A TV phone poll votes three to one in support of Hannah. Rachel is sent home from the hospital after being told her father has to be operated on. Cass reads a letter left by Charlie, but she isn't sure how to react when she finds it's a love letter. Ann tells Meg she would like to know who made the call about Hannah so she could thank her: Meg looks suitably smug. Jonathan reinforces Cass's hatred of Bobbie and tells her she must kill her the same day. Ann tells the women that Hannah may be able to stay and "an old friend at Barnhurst" has been supporting the cause. Cass takes a pair of scissors from the laundry. Jonathan dictates his master plan into a tape recorder: when Ann visits him, he prepares to cover himself by warning of Cass's bottled-up violence. Judy gets a letter from Scott detailing Jonathan's previous unethical conduct, so she goes to Ann to expose him. Ann is unwilling to believe it, but phones the Institute mentioned in the letter as having sacked him for overstepping the bounds. Rick races to hospital after a phone call from Rachel, but finds that Pop has died during an operation. Pixie tells Judy that she knows it was Cass who attacked her believing she was Bobbie. Ann finds Jonathan's Dictaphone and plays it back, giving details of his hypnosis of Meg. When Judy finds out that both Cass and Bobbie have gone to the shower block at the same time, she tells Myra to get an officer as she has to stop Cass.

Another prison parody advert for Pot Noodle in one of the breaks on Channel 5, this time a role reversed scene from "Midnight express" though this one has a happier conclusion

  • Judy arrives in the shower block to find Cass holding the scissors at Bobbie's throat : she distracts her by convincing her it is not Bobbie she is holding, but Sue from maternity. Judy goes with Cass to look for Bobbie, which she says she has to do or Bobbie will kill them all. Colleen arrives and takes the scissors from Cass and leads her to isolation, where she pretends Bobbie is. Jonathan returns to his office to find Ann still listening to his tape: she brushes off his attempt at an explanation and tells him she will report him to the Department. He follows her to the staff room for another go, but she tells him she contacted the Fox-Smith Institute and knows why he was asked to leave. Joyce calls Ann to see Cass in isolation. Bobbie feels ill, but is it shock, or something else? Ann tells Jonathan she won't let Cass take the blame for the attack on Bobbie: she insists that Jonathan reverses Cass's conditioning and sits in on the session to make sure. Phyllis pretends she was faking her personality change for the sake of free cigarettes. Jonathan is interviewed by the police and attempts to blind the detective with science, and claims he only used one cassette tape to record his notes. Joyce unwittingly hands over the real evidence when she gives them the briefcase containing the rest of his notes and tapes. Bobbie can't face Cass, who is upset not to be able to apologise to her. Colleen is told her house has been sold to the Webbs and is handed a cheque for $63,000, but she tells the agent she has no immediate plans to buy another. Pixie finds that Cass has slashed her wrists in bed, but as it turns out only superficially. Ann tells Colleen that Hannah's appeal against deportation has been turned down. Rachel opens the newsagent's shop to keep her mind off her father's death. Bobbie collapses after Pixie's graphic description of Cass's suicide attempt. Colleen tells Meg she has resigned, and invites her to accompany her on a world cruise all expenses paid. Myra tells the women the bad news about Hannah and announces that the first open day will go ahead, which she wants to turn it into a fete. Reb decides the fete will provide a perfect opportunity to get drugs smuggled in. Trevor Priest offers to pay for Pop's funeral if Rachel will say the accident was Pop's fault. Hannah returns from hospital: she sees Cass's bandaged wrists and is obviously shocked at the idea of her attempting suicide. Colleen takes the opportunity of her forthcoming departure to tell Joan exactly what she thinks of her. Joan calls into the laundry to gloat over the prospect of becoming Deputy Governor. Kay visits Myra, looking in bad shape, which she claims is due to dieting (judge for yourself ... ). She says she is sorry for what she did to Myra by giving evidence against her. Myra confides in Judy that she thinks there is something else wrong with Kay. Ann urges Meg to apply for the Deputy Governorship, as Joan has already applied. Judy suggests Myra contacts Wally. Myra sees Hannah sneak a knife up her sleeve and tells her not to get ideas from Cass. Bobbie is told that her test results show her to be eight weeks pregnant.
