Myra looks for volunteers to help with the fete. Pixie decides to tell fortunes. Bobbie tells the women she's pregnant. Ann throws a leaving party for Colleen. The women make pots for the fete. Phyllis points out that Bobbie's baby will be taken away from her when she is two. No-one talks to Joan at Colleen's leaving party. Cass finds Bobbie reading Dr Spock, and apologises to Bobbie. Joan is already feeling very tense when Colleen spills a glass of wine over her: she storms out, believing it to deliberate. Bobbie starts to get a bit irritated by Cass's overprotectiveness, and a bit dismayed by her news that she's asked to share her cell. Hannah is told her cousin has been traced and will help her raise money for her return. Joan is shown a newspaper article by Camilla Wells opposing her appointment as Deputy Governor: Ann says (perhaps ambiguously) that she doesn't think it will affect the Department's decision either way. Myra gets a letter telling her Kay has been in hospital with an overdose and suspected hepatitis after taking drugs. She asks Ann for day release to see her: Ann tells her there is little chance of this, but she will contact Wally to go and visit. Peter Secker arrives to see Hannah. Judy says goodbye to Hannah on behalf of the women. Colleen takes Hannah to the visiting suite: Hannah's visitor threatens her (in German) and pulls a gun on Colleen, taking her hostage as he chases Hannah . Joan is knocked out when she tries to trip him up. Hannah runs into the laundry and begs the women to hide her: they put her in the drier. Hannah's real cousin arrives with his wife . Ruth is shot when the women try to disarm the Nazi madman. Meg reports finding Joan unconscious, and Ann calls in the police. Colleen and the women try to talk the gunmen into giving himself up, but he says if they don't tell him where Hannah is, he will shoot them one by one. Taking the advice of the special officers called in to break the deadlock, Ann uses the PA to urge Secker to give himself up, but he grabs Bobbie and holds a gun at her head. Judy reveals Hannah's hiding place by opening the drier door a little. Colleen distracts Secker to let Hannah make a getaway. Secker chases Hannah through the corridors but he is shot by the special police team. Colleen says goodbye to the women and promises to send them a postcard. Hannah meets her real relatives before she is taken to the airport. Joan questions the women to try to find out who contacted Camilla Wells, as she wants to know who to "thank" for the write up in the paper. Meg tells Colleen she heard one of the women say it won't be the same without "old Poface". Joan and Meg are called over the intercom to the Governor's office: Colleen wryly wishes them both good luck. Meg is told she is the new Deputy Governor: Joan is crest-fallen. Colleen leaves Wentworth . Judy tries to reassure Myra she hasn't wasted her life and isn't a bad mother, but she tells Judy she is planning to escape to help Kay.

  • Meg tries to commiserate with Joan, but Joan turns on her and accuses Meg of leaking the story to the newspaper. Judy agrees to help Myra escape: Myra says she only intends to stay out long enough to help Kay then she'll give herself up. Judy suggest Myra could use the fete as a cover for her escape. Meg distributes materials for the women to make their various craft objects for the fete. Rachel calls round to Rick's late at night but flies off the handle at his suggestion she should prepare herself for Trevor Priest getting off fairly lightly. Myra tells a selected few about her escape plans. Meg sews the new pips on her jacket in the staff room. Ann warns the officers that glamour model Leigh Templar is to be admitted as a prisoner and given special treatment at the insistence of the Minister. Joan sneers at the women for their attempts to undermine her and orders Bobbie to find out who phoned Camilla Wells, if she wants to stay healthy "in her condition". Leigh Templar is brought to Wentworth charged with the murder of her manager: Joyce is flustered by dealing with a celebrity. Ann tells Meg that Joan has made an official complaint about her promotion. Leigh is horrified she has only one locker to put all her clothes in: she doesn't have to go to solitary as she already for 24 hours at the watch-house. When Leigh walks into the dining room, Reb tells Judy she'd better keep her hands off, as Joan seems to have staked her claim already. Rick is told he is to be moved to work as a juvenile crime counsellor. Reb surprises Leigh by recognizing the make of her designer clothes and Leigh finds she knows her mother. Myra suggests Judy should have a word with Leigh, when she sees her spending her time during exercise period talking to the officers. Rick tells Rachel about his new job. Judy gets ground glass in her porridge, courtesy of Reb as belated revenge for being fed drugs. Dennis Cruickshank begins as an officer : his previous work was in borstals in England. Joan sarcastically says he won't find it anywhere near as hard as discipline is virtually unknown at Wentworth. Bobbie takes an impression of the storeroom lock. At Trevor Priest's trial, Rachel is accused of hitting him at her father's funeral and generally made to look silly. Dennis is introduced to the women and later finds out at first hand about Joan's attitude to Meg's Deputy Governorship. Trevor Priest is found not guilty of culpable driving and gets only a fine and a two year driving ban on the drunk driving charge. Leigh finds the dresses in her wardrobe slashed. Joan unveils Cass's sculpture, which has been uglified and entitled FREAK (and is actually quite a good likeness ). Rachel overhears Trevor Priest inviting his solicitor out for lunch to "celebrate" outside the court: she drives straight at him and knocks him over: he gets up and falls in the path of an oncoming lorry .

    EPISODE 458

  • Myra uses Duran Duran as backup to see off Joan

Joan puts Cass on a charge and tells her she can forget any involvement with the fete. She also threatens Bobbie that she must come up with the name she needs. Det Crabbe tells Rick that Rachel signs a statement admitting her intention to kill Trevor Priest, and there is no chance of her getting parole. Leigh brings her damaged dresses to the laundry to express her disgust: Pixie picks them up and says she might be able to mend them. Despite Rick's pleas, Ann says that Rachel must go into solitary when she comes to Wentworth. Cass tells the women that she can go to the fete after all. Joyce inducts Rachel, and Rick turns down the chance to take over. Joan heavies Bobbie again for the name: the arrival of Myra, Judy and Cass confirms her suspicion that Pixie made the call. Myra warns her not to take any action against either Bobbie or Pixie. Leigh tells Joan that she suspects it was Reb who slashed her dresses: Phyllis is listening outside the cell. In the shower next morning, Leigh finds oil has been added to her shampoo. Rachel tells Rick she doesn't want him to visit her in Wentworth . Bobbie gets into the store and collects Myra's going away outfit: Reb overhears where the clothes are hidden. Meg tells Ann that as a result of the Departmental inquiry she has been demoted to provisional Deputy Governor, to be reviewed in 3 months. Dennis tells Joan he was impressed by the women's enthusiasm for work, he even found Bobbie "cleaning" the lock on the store room. Myra's dress has disappeared from its hiding place. Joan checks the storeroom, but can't see any obvious clues that anything is missing. Leigh's agent visits her to advise her that advertisers are cancelling contracts, and wants to use the fete to generate more publicity: she tells him she is quitting modelling. Myra goes to Reb for her clothes and finds them slashed, and punches Reb in the stomach. Ann is told about the storeroom and orders a cell search: Bobbie hides the key in the kitchen scraps. Joan finds the clothes in the kitchen garbage and gloats that Meg didn't find the key. Ann refuses to follow Joan's suggestion that the fete is cancelled. Pixie offers to make Myra a dress from the remnants of Leigh's clothes. Ann announces that the fete will not be cancelled but there will be additional security. Bobbie is questioned, and denies knowledge of the key or the missing dress. Joan warns Reb to stay away from Leigh , but she goes straight to Leigh's cell and takes something from her locker. Rick says goodbye to the women and asks Cass and Bobbie to look after Rachel when he's gone. Ann tells Meg that Jonathan's favourable report on Pixie might lead to her release. Leigh uses a lipstick spiked with pins by Reb .

The women prepare for the fete: Judy gets her gay bunting in a twist . Pixie gets Joyce to let her stay behind after work to use the sewing machine. Leigh confronts Reb in the rec room and stabs one of the pins into her hand, telling all the women to leave her alone. Cass takes Rachel under her wing and introduces her to the other women. Joan catches Pixie sewing, but is more concerned to come to collect her to see Ann, as she is to be told her release has been approved. Judy warns Leigh not to cut herself off from the other women. Cass gets hints on flirting from Bobbie. Ann gives the staff instructions on security for the fete, but refuses Joan's request that the officers are armed for the fete. The women set up the stalls outside in the grounds . Reb sees Pixie giving Myra the cushion with her dress in it and realises Myra is planning to escape. Leigh refuses to let her solicitor mention the blue movies she made at her trial: he tells that her manager may never have had them, despite his threats to use them against her. Cass alarms Charlie by her forward behaviour when she tries out her newly learnt flirting technique on him. Pixie reads Ann's hand in her fortune telling tent and predicts a tall dark handsome stranger: Wally turns up on cue minus his beard (though he fits the description at no other point). A customer hides cocaine in one of Reb's plant pots. Wally offers to help Myra with Kay but it doesn't change her mind about getting out. Pixie lifts a visitor's pass from one of her customers. Mr Schumann turns up at the fete to offer Pixie her old job back. Bobbie steals a purse. Myra breaks into the shed to change: Reb locks her in, so Myra has to break out with a pick-axe. Reb can't find Joan to tell her about Myra's hiding place and returns to her stall to find that Cass has sold the pot with the drugs to her brother. Joyce interrupts Pixie handing over the pass to Myra under cover of a fortune telling session, but can't see her face for her huge hat. Myra starts off to walk to the gate, and Bobbie stages a faint to cover for her when she sees a man set off to follow her. Myra is stopped by Leigh, who recognizes her dress, but lets her continue when she realises what is going on. Myra is stopped again outside the gate by the man following her, but he only wants to admire her hat and offer her a lift.

  • Reb finds Joan and tells her she heard noises in the shed, but Reb realises that Myra has escaped through a boarded-up window. Joan is untypically dismissive and can't see anything funny, saying she will investigate after the fete is over. Charlie tells Cass he doesn't like the way she's been behaving and likes her the way she is. Bobbie tells Reb that Myra has already gone and there's nothing she can do about it. Albie refuses to give the plant pot back to Phyllis. Charlie proposes to Cass, but she says she'll be inside for years yet: he doesn't seem to mind that and so they are engaged. Dennis breaks up a scuffle over the plant and sends Bobbie flying. Joan sees Phyllis pick up a packet and confiscates it: Phyllis incriminates Reb by telling her she knew the scheme wouldn't work. Joan tells Ann about Bobbie's accident, Reb and Phyllis' drug dealing and the possibility that Myra has escaped. Joan calls an end to the fete and asks the visitors to leave. Ann demands to know from Reb and Phyllis how the drugs got inside. Myra's escape is confirmed by a head count and a visitor trying to get out without a pass. Wally tells Ann he was worried that Myra escaped as she was worried about Kay: she warns him not to get involved if Myra comes looking for him. Pixie belatedly realises she could lose her release if her involvement in the escape were known. Judy admits she knew about the escape, but Ann wants the names of the others involved. Joan tries to throw suspicion on Pixie, saying Myra must have changed in her tent. Dennis tries to explain to Cass that he didn't deliberately hurt Bobbie. Pixie is told she will be released next day. Ann overhears Joan complaining about her lack of authority and tells her in no uncertain terms that if she hears anything like it again, she will get her sacked. Joan refuses Phyllis' plea for protection. Ann visits Bobbie in hospital: the doctor tells Ann that Bobbie has lost her baby, but they haven't told her yet. Pixie is forced to make a farewell speech by Judy: she says she has made some good friends and will miss them. Judy is told about Bobbie and passes on the news to Cass and Pixie: Cass is already distressed worrying about Bobbie and rushes off to attack Dennis. Officer Bailey locks the security gate, but Cass reaches through and tries to throttle Dennis . He frees himself when Judy and Pixie pull Cass off from the other side. He asks for the gate to be opened, but Cass goes for him again and he has to subdue her with a karate chop. Pixie tells Judy she wants to stay inside and she will try to get herself put on a charge, but Judy persuades her she can cope. Reb corners Phyllis in the shower block and knocks her out with one of the statues from the fete. Joan tells Judy that Marie Winter is being transferred from Barnhurst and that Cass has been transferred to the state hospital for the criminally insane.
