Joan notices the damage to Faye's face next morning but only gives it a raised eyebrow and a snide remark. Maxine bets Lizzie she can't give up swearing. Faye tells Bea that Nola is after everyone she suspects was involved in bashing her - including Bea. Nola hides in Jacko's cell after morning shower and single-handedly bashes her , and Lil when she comes to help . Lizzie finds them and tells Bea she saw Nola coming out of the cell. Bea confronts Nola, who tells Bea she's quite happy to take her on but complains that Bea has mucked up her schedule, as she was saving her till last. Colleen walks into the middle of this so hostilities are postponed. Maxine is nervous as she reckons she'll be Nola's next victim. Faye phones her friend Jimmy to get him to visit her. Joan tells Nola she'll make it her special project to have her sent back to Western Australia. Maxine takes a knife from the dining room for protection. Nola is put to work in the garden to keep her away from the other women. Faye tells Nola that Maxine has a knife. Maxine demands a guard when she goes to the toilet block, but Bea sends her off with Faye. When they run into Nola on the way, Faye is told to clear off. Maxine pulls the knife but Nola has no trouble taking it off her. Maxine runs off, Nola chases her, Maxine falls downstairs , Nola stands over her and raises the knife ... (but this is a false teaser, as it appears later that she has bashed Maxine). Erica comes to the rec room to find out who bashed Maxine, but no-one will lag: Erica announces that the ban on buyup will have to stay. Helen visits Judy, and gives her the idea to move Driscoll to a better neighbourhood. Nola tells Faye to get money and tobacco from her visitor, and Faye will be the front for the sales operation. Joan tries to stir up Bea to attack Nola. Judy tells Erica of her idea to buy a new house then lease it to the PRG. Nola sees a place where the fences are close enough together to throw something over from the outside. Judy sees Bea at Erica's request to ask her not to take revenge on Nola: Bea tells Judy she's planning to kill Nola. Jimmy passes money to Faye on a visit, and follows her hints about throwing tobacco over the fence. • Faye's two heavies are named as Mary (Adler) and Jill, who seems to be the same prisoner who was inducted with Susie Driscoll in (260) as Mary Vaughan.

Bea refuses to fight Nola, as it has been set up by Joan. Joan eventually loses patience and opens the library door, only to find Bea and Nola patiently sorting books. Nola has even found one she believes might interest Joan: "Leathercraft for the Enthusiast". Helen and Judy go house hunting, but Helen's estate agent friend shows them nothing suitable. Faye offers cigarettes for sale at fifty cents each. Erica tells Maxine the buyup will go ahead as normal if she will say who bashed her, but she won't lag on Nola. Helen offers the estate agent an expensive tart at bargain price in return for dropping the price on a suitable house. Bea takes a cut from Faye and gives it to Maxine as repayment for not lagging. Nola gets Faye to front for an insurance scheme which will give payouts to the women if they cop a charge from an officer. Lizzie and Maxine aren't impressed by Faye's sales pitch. Erica tells Judy she can take up the careers officer job whenever she likes, but Mr Askin brings Judy a cheque for only about two thirds of the amount she expected due to US estate tax. Nola tells Faye she needs to use a more "forceful" approach to selling policies. Judy shows Erica round the new house, and finds the shy boy from next door hiding inside . Faye and a couple of heavies persuade Maxine to buy a policy. Erica phones Myra Desmond, and is told that the PRG will act as guarantor for part of the money Judy needs, and they will also pay the rates for her. Nola refuses to obey Bea's order to do a laundry pickup from maternity, so Colleen breaks the deadlock by sending Maxine. When Colleen catches her later putting razor blades in Nola's soap, Maxine provokes her into putting her on a charge from Colleen. Her payout from Faye persuades most of the other women to buy into the scheme. Nola spots the razor blades in her soap and works out who put them there: she goes to Maxine's cell to heavy her, but Bea comes to the rescue and tries to push Nola's head under water . Once again, Colleen intervenes and stops anything happening. Erica gets suspicious when Lizzie is disappointed by her light punishment for stealing from the kitchen. Babs gets a soldering iron from the workshop: Bea lies in wait for Nola, pushes her to the ground, stuffs a teatowel in her mouth to muffle the screams  and holds up the soldering iron , telling Nola: "This is for Paddy". Lizzie pretends Erica has ordered her to confined to her cell to bump up her compensation from Faye. Nola shows Faye the wound Bea inflicted: a letter K (for "Killer") branded on her breast .

  • Nola orders Faye to help her by putting some water on the burn. Bea returns to the laundry refusing to say where she's been. Faye tells the women what Bea has done: some are appalled but gradually they come round to the view that Nola got what she deserved. Bea tells them it will be better than killing Nola - every time she looks at the scar it will remind her of what she did to Paddy. Lizzie claims her insurance money off Faye when she comes to the dining room. Nola tells Faye she doesn't care about being top dog: instead she's going to tie up all the money in Wenworth so the women will have to come to her rather than Bea. Later, she buys into the insurance scheme, claiming the offices will be bound to catch her in action soon, which is a remark aimed, as a threat, at Bea. Erica asks Judy to find out why the women don't seem bothered to lose their privileges: Judy agrees but only if she thinks passing on the information will help the women. Colleen's marriage is on the rocks: she tells Patrick she is moving out. Lizzie tells Judy that she's not keen to be seen outside as she's trying to pretend she's confined to her cell for the insurance. Colleen snaps at Meg when she misunderstands Meg to be making a snide comment that she's back late from lunch. Judy sees Bea and asks her about the insurance scheme: they agree it can't have been Faye's idea, but Bea resists Judy's attempts to get her to say what she did to Nola. Judy and Meg find Hazel drunk in a bar and take her to the halfway house. Maxine tells Lizzie she's going for the jackpot by trying to get put in solitary: Faye gives Maxine the ten dollars payoff when she delivers a meal to her in solitary. Meg calls round to see Colleen at home and tells her next day she knows she's moved out. Colleen's bad mood means that Maxine finds it pretty easy to get sent to solitary. Hazel adopts a stray cat, but Helen takes it away from her and puts it outside. Faye overhears Lizzie trying to con Colleen when she challenges her about why she's lying around when she should be working. Judy returns to the halfway house and has to separate Hazel from the stray cat for a second time. Meg tells Lizzie to go back to work. Colleen moves into a hotel and has to share a table with a man called Malcolm in the restaurant , but turns down his proposition that they spend the night together. Later she replays the scene in her mind and seems to be having regrets that she turned him down. Nola plans to steal buyup goods from the storeroom as currency to make payouts on the insurance. Colleen goes round to Meg's in the middle of the night wanting someone to talk to: Meg advises her it takes a while after a breakup to think of yourself as an individual again. Hazel hears a noise outside the halfway house and thinking it's the cat back again, looks outside and sees a holdall on the back steps. Inside it is an abandoned baby .

Hazel promises the baby she won't leave him like his mother did. Colleen comes back to the hotel after finishing her conversation with Meg. Bea is suspicious when Faye is offering to supply the women with shampoo as well as cigarettes. Hazel takes the baby back up to her room and makes her room mate Michelle promise to keep the baby a secret from Judy. Meg offers to let Colleen move in with her when Colleen admits she isn't getting much sleep in the hotel. Maxine comes out of solitary, and when Bea sends her off for a laundry pickup, Faye pipes up and offers to go in her place. Michelle gives Hazel a jacket she knitted for Judy's grandson and also some money to buy other stuff for the baby. Hazel decides to call the baby Johnnie (which is the name of her own son). Patrick comes looking for Colleen at work, but Meg doesn't want to get involved and pretends she doesn't know where Colleen is. Faye shows Nola where the storeroom is and she uses a skeleton key to get in. Colleen sends Patrick away after agreeing to meet him later for lunch. Faye distracts Joan by provoking an argument with Ruth to give Nola the chance to hide the goods from the storeroom. Colleen notices the lock on the storeroom door has been tampered with, and a cell search is ordered. She decides to miss her lunch and her appointment with Patrick. Ruth is caught passing some of the goods back to Faye. Faye tries to apologise for landing her with a charge, but Ruth says she doesn't mind and adds that she's happy to take her payout in goods. Meg goes to meet Patrick to tell him Colleen won't be coming. Hazel urges Judy to visit Lori. Janice Young is brought to Wentworth for refusing to pay compensation for a car accident and court costs. Lizzie accidentally lets Faye know that she wasn't really confined to her cell and Nola decides to change the rules of the insurance scheme so that no-one benefits if they deliberately get themselves into trouble. Bea figures that Faye must be working with Joan and tells her the insurance scheme must stop, but Nola defies her saying there's no way they will stop as the scheme is so popular. Janice's husband Chris comes to visit. Nola buys a pack of cigarettes to make it appear she isn't connected to the racket, but uses a note torn by Lizzie and used to pay for insurance. Bea is disgusted that the women have forgotten Paddy already and don't seem bothered to find out that Nola is behind the racket. Judy catches Hazel with the baby .

  • Lori appears to be staying in the same hotel room recently vacated by Colleen - the brick walls are a dead giveaway.

Bea tells the women it's only a matter of time before Joan moves in for a cut. Judy admires the baby but tells Hazel she has to take him to the police. A policewoman soon arrives and takes the baby away. Chris Young sees Meg and Colleen in a bar, and he asks them to look after Janice as he's worried about how she will cope. Colleen warns Janice that as she's just arrived she is entitled to buyup, but she might be better not to flaunt it around or risk being hassled by the other women. Roxanne brings some cash in for Maxine, so she can raise her insurance stake: Joan sees the money being handed over, but says nothing. Judy sees Faye about her forthcoming release, but Faye says she won't need to come to the halfway house as she's going to live at her mother's. Faye confides in Lizzie later that she's not looking forward to going back to her family as her mother always looked down on her. Maxine manages to get Faye to accept an increased premium from her on the insurance scheme. Bea warns Janice not to get involved in any of Nola's little schemes. Meg suggests Chris Young to build some shelves for Colleen's room. Nola checks her stash behind a vent in the library. Hazel is despondent about losing another child. Bea asks Erica to allow the women to buy a TV set with their own money: Erica agrees but says the women will have to earn it by doing an extra load of laundry from the hospital. Nola is happy that the women will have to buckle down and behave themselves as it means she won't have to pay out on the insurance scheme. Joan collars Faye to find out who's got money and whether it's worth starting up a book again. Joan tells Patrick where Colleen is staying: he goes round to Meg's, but he cannot persuade Colleen to come home. Geoff arrives at the halfway house and tells Judy that Lori has left him and taken the baby, who was born deaf after Laurie caught rubella from the children of Geoff's boss while she was pregnant. When Geoff describes the baby and says that he only cries when he's hungry, Judy realises this was the baby Hazel found. When she passes on the information to the police, she is told that they have traced the mother to a motel. Judy asks them to hold off until she and Geoff have had the chance to talk to her. Nola undercuts Bea by buying a TV set for the women with her own money. Judy finds Lori in a motel. She is disappointed with her mother for not recognising the baby and for handing him over to the police. She also tells Judy that she blames Geoff for the baby being deaf and that she doesn't want to see either of them ever again.
