  • Product placement corner - this restaurant appears twice, the next time is in (364)

Faye tells Judy she became pregnant at 15 and her sister agreed to bring Billy up as her own son. Bea is still implacably against buying anything from Nola and reminds the women they only lost their buyup because Nola bashed Maxine. Nola scornfully tells Bea she's not interested in being top dog - she's quite happy to let Bea control the women as long as she can still rake in the profits. Colleen tells Meg it's over between her and Chris, but she meets him by accident outside Wentworth as she's leaving work: Joan sees them talking. Colleen agrees to meet Chris at Meg's flat and they go out to dinner. Bea points out that Maxine's arithmetic on her profit calculation is faulty, and the shortfall must mean that she has a fourth partner in the scheme. Faye loses heavily betting on the dogs, but she turns down Snow's offer to earn some money by fencing TVs. Lindy claims to have been followed home to the halfway house, but Helen thinks she's being paranoid and hasn't got over her pimp beating her up. Colleen refuses to sleep with Chris again and leaves him on his own in the restaurant. Joan makes a special visit to Janice after lights out to let her know she'd seen Colleen and Chris arranging a date. Judy says she will help Faye get Billy back. Janice is furious with Colleen and slaps her: Colleen doesn't put her on a charge, but sends back to the laundry. Faye tells Snow about the video machines at the place where she works. Bea finds out that from a remark of Colleen's that it is Joan who is supervising Maxine's visits. Ted Douglas phones Erica and asks to see Jill at Wentworth. Nola gets the orders wrong and Phyllis gets some hair colour she doesn't want: Nola tells her to keep it and she'll trade it later. Colleen confronts Joan, but Joan brushes it off and practically challenges Colleen to report her to Erica, knowing that she won't be able to. Bea is waiting for Maxine in her cell when she returns from collecting her payoff from Nola and tells her she knows she is working with Joan, so she's going to bash her to teach her a lesson. Colleen finds contraband under Jill's pillow, but Jill refuses to say where she got it. Bea tells the women Nola's rackets are over, but the women are reluctant to just give it up like that and turn their backs on Bea. Lizzie finds Maxine bashed in her cell and goes to the laundry to tell the other women. Erica sends Jill to solitary, and takes Ted Douglas to see her there via the back stairs , but Joan sees and follows them: she can't hear their discussion and leaves. Jill names Joan as involved in the contraband, but Ted Douglas won't believe it and says it's just another a frame-up. Maxine apologises to Bea and accepts that Bea was right to bash her. Joan phones up the court to find when Jill was sentenced, and finds that they have no record of her. She tells Nola to watch what she says in front of Jill. Nola tells Joan that she's too late: Bea already knows of Joan's involvement and so do all the other women, so when Jill is released from solitary, she will probably find out pretty quickly.

  • Remarkable how Joan's spare uniform seems to fit Bea so well...

Joan tells Nola the trading must stop and that Nola must not let anyone else know she's involved. Nola passes on the news about the trading to the women and blames the presence of a spy - indicating Jill. Bea shrugs when the women ask her what to do and says they can sort their own mess out for a change. Joan asks Meg what she knows about Jill Clark, and says she's heard a "rumour" that she's a spy for the Department. Mrs Collins brings a pot of tea round for the women at the halfway house, but Lindy leaves the room when she sees Trevor shyly hovering behind her. After Faye's boss gives her the keys to the premises she phones Snow, who comes and collects three videos, and seems to think she will get away with it by simply denying the theft had anything to do with her. Lizzie suggests using Jill by feeding her with exactly the information they want the Department to hear. Colleen is moping around the staff room until Meg passes on the news about Jill, which seems to galvanise her into action. Erica admits that Jill is a spy for the Department and blames Ted Douglas for demanding that she kept it a secret from the officers. Bea notices a spare uniform in the staff room in Joan's open locker. A policeman comes looking for Faye at the halfway house. The women get a postcard from Doreen in Sydney saying she's living with an old school friend. Bea overhears Phyllis asking Nola for cigarettes and follows Nola when she leaves the dining room early, finding out that her stash is hidden in the library. Faye is brought back to Wentworth. Bea takes Nola's stash and Phyllis' hair colour. Colleen goes back to her family and Patrick tells her he's got a promotion, but she indicates that isn't in itself the solution to their problems. Mrs Collins tells Judy to discourage Trevor from visiting the halfway house. Meanwhile he is watching Lindy undressing at her open window: she turns round, sees him and runs screaming from the room. Mrs Collins blames Lindy for "flaunting" herself. Faye is transferred to D block at Joan's suggestion. Frank Moore arrives with a group of trainee prison officers. Chris comes to collect Janice on her release: she stops him and asks him if he's going to say goodbye to Colleen. When he walks on as if he hadn't heard her, Janice turns to Colleen and says goodbye for him. Bea runs in to the group of trainees while wheeling a trolley through the corridors and realises she has a perfect opportunity. The trainees have to face a barrage of raucous comments from the women in the laundry. Faye is reduced to tears by a letter from Billy, promising to come and visits when his parents allow it. Bea takes Joan's spare uniform , and sends Joan off on a wild goose chase by implying that someone is just about to throw contraband over the fence. She dyes her hair , puts on Joan's spare uniform and walks out of the prison behind the trainees .

  • Bea does not appear in this episode: her next appearance is in (357).

Meg states that Bea had served 13 years by this point.

Lainie's mugshot appears in the opening credit sequence for this episode, though she does not appear until (354)

Maxine is taken out of the laundry to be interviewed about the contraband drop, due to Bea's misinformation to cover her escape. Nola warns the other women to keep their mouths shut if anyone asks them any questions. After Colleen leaves Maxine alone with Joan, Maxine tells her that she really doesn't know anything about this and she must have misunderstood, pointing out how unlikely it would be for Bea to lag. Bea is eventually missed and a head count is ordered. The women are locked in their cells. Colleen is convinced Bea must still be in the building until Meg suggests she could have got out with trainees and Joan remembers seeing Bea nosing around the staff room where she could have got a uniform. Lizzie is sure that Bea has escaped and blames women's ungrateful behaviour since Joan arrived. Erica speaks to the women from the corridor outside their cells, appealing for information on Bea's escape. Lizzie asks to speak to Erica, but not to pass on any real information: she only says that Bea kept her escape plans a secret and to tell the police that Bea isn't dangerous. Det Sgt Blackman makes Joan look small for falling for Bea's story and Meg makes a pointed comment in the staff room in front of her about the Department changing its view of the efficiency of certain officers. The press assemble outside Wentworth: Joan snaps at them as she is besieged when she leaves work. Colleen thinks Maxine isn't as innocent as she pretends and wants to question her again. Nola makes her pitch for top dog after criticising Bea for running out on the women. Maxine claims on her insurance for losing her phone privileges, but when Nola goes to get the money, she finds someone has cleared her out. Lizzie scoffs at Nola's assumption that it was Bea who took the money, and Maxine pipes up that she's still claiming so Nola had better find the money - perhaps she should ask Joan? Jill's ears prick up at this and she starts asking questions, so Maxine shuts her up by saying that everyone knows she's working for the Department so no-one will tell her anything. Jill demands to see Erica, and she agrees to authorise Jill's release. Nola tells Joan her money is missing, but Joan says that's not her problem. They agree that it must have been Bea who took it. Meg reads out to Colleen a news article blaming Joan for Bea's escape and, smiling, drops the paper in the staff room bin (knowing that the women will get to know what's in it). Trevor calls round to see if Maxine is coming to the halfway house, so Judy explains the working bee had to be cancelled because of an escape. After being put on kitchen duty by Meg, Lizzie finds the paper with news of Bea's escape. Ted Douglas interviews Joan over her role in Bea's escape , and she admits she was at fault. Jill returns as a visitor to report what she has heard about Joan's involvement in Nola's dealing in contraband, but admits there is no real evidence. Lindy sunbathes in the garden, but is startled to find Trevor standing over her waiting to give her a love letter. Nola is questioned about the rackets and denies everything. Buyup is cancelled when the news clipping about Bea is found by Joan on the rec room notice board. Lindy goes out to get a fix from a contact of Helen's, much to Judy's disapproval. At the end of the exercise period, Lizzie demands payment from Joan in front of Colleen on behalf of all the women for their loss of buyup .

  • Joan challenges Lizzie to take the matter to the Governor, and the women back down. Nola accuses Lizzie of lagging by confirming the officers' suspicions that there is a racket going on, which not even Jill Clark's evidence could have proved that. Lindy is offered a drink by a man in a bar where she goes to buy drugs. Erica and Colleen are sure Joan is involved with dealing and are expecting evidence from Lizzie and Maxine. However, though they are happy to accuse Joan, they refuse to name Nola as the prisoner contact. Erica tells Joan about the complaints against her, and Joan claims the women knew that Jill was a spy right from the start so any information she gave is suspect. Lindy's new man friend Tony invites her to go on from the bar to a disco. Erica plays hostess to Ted Douglas at home: she tells him she thinks Joan revealed Jill's identity. He informs her Jill's report means there are changes planned for Wentworth, which not even he can support. Lindy decides to go home on her own, much to Tony's annoyance as he thinks that paying for her drinks all night gives him some sort of right to get something in return. Lizzie vows she's going to stand up to Joan in future whenever she gets the chance. Judy catches Lindy returning late to the halfway house and when Lindy brings out a handful of pills, she tries to confiscate them, but Lindy swallows them all in one go and staggers off to bed. As she undresses in her room, someone is watching outside. Joan visits Lizzie after lights out to threaten her with future unannounced visits that might put a terrible strain on her heart... Helen is accosted in the street by a man who claims to be a friend of one of her regulars. An intruder climbs through Lindy's window and attacks and rapes her: she tells Judy it was Trevor. Helen's pickup turns out to be a detective and she ends up back in Wentworth . Lindy and Trevor are questioned about the rape: Trevor admits he had slipped out before to visit the women. Lizzie tells Helen she thinks Nola is going to take over as top dog, but Helen reminds her she isn't going to be around long enough to do anything to prevent it. Erica is surprised by the Department's latest ruling: the women will be allowed to choose personal effects and furnishings for their cells. She invites the women to list the things they would like. Maxine is interviewed about Lindy's allegations against Trevor and tells the police she can't believe he would have done what he's accused of. Helen tries to inject some realism into the discussion of the sorts of "things" the women want to see in their cells. The police get a search warrant and find soft porn magazines and a letter to Lindy in Trevor's room. Lainie and "Ellen" are brought in on remand for shop-lifting : Lainie refuses to undress for a shower, but she is forced to, revealing her body is covered in tattoos . This distraction mean that "Ellen" has a shower unobserved by the officers. Helen takes the list of suggestions to Erica. Mrs Collins comes to confront Lindy when Trevor is charged: Judy tries to calm her down and gives her money to bail him out. Nola sees Lainie and "Ellen" holding hands and smirks that the Freak seems to have a couple of new friends to play with. Lindy ducks behind the curtains when she sees Trevor outside, but only moments later gets a phone call from her rapist.

  • It is unusual for writer credits to be the same for two episodes running, so either this or the next episode may be wrong?

The character name "Dianne" is misspelt "Lianne" in the credits for this episode.

Lindy pretends the call was from an old customer and tells Judy she wants locks on her windows for protection. Judy picks up on her remark that "some guy" raped her and asks if she's saying it wasn't Trevor after all. Nola isn't worried that the Department's sudden rush of generosity will cramp her style and claims to be able to offer all kinds of special items that they never could - like, say, a double bed for "Ellen" and Lainie. Joan sees "Ellen" and Lainie in their cell about to kiss each other and tells them to at least wait until lights out or they'll give the place a bad name. Lindy wakes up calling out the name "Tony" and Judy realises that it wasn't Trevor who raped her. Joan arranges to be on patrol and sees Lainie and "Ellen" together in bed through the spyhole. "Ellen" asks if they can shower separately but both Meg and Joan tell her that won't be possible. The goods for the women's cells arrive in reception and Joan is contemptuous of the women's taste in interior decor. Judy goes to the police station to bail out Dianne Henley but is told Dianne has been sentenced to 14 days. She tells Judy she didn't read the list of her legal rights properly. Helen looks over the shower cubicle door to see what's taking "Ellen" so long to finish and what she sees reveals that "Ellen" is really Alan. She tells Maxine who goes over to have a look for herself. "Ellen" explains that it all started as a joke when they were arrested for shoplifting, but no-one rumbled them so they kept up with the pretence. Joan shows Dianne to her cell and gives her a rule book to read. Lizzie makes Maxine stay in the rec room for a Sunday service. Lindy gets another call from Tony: Judy makes her go the police. The police suggest the only way of catching him is for Lindy to go back to the bar where she met him under surveillance. Dianne tells the women she can't read the rule book: Helen suggest they ask the Department to provide a teacher for her. Judy tries to apologise but Mrs Collins turns against the halfway house. Trevor defends them and stands up for himself against his mother, telling her he's leaving home to look for a job. Lindy acts as decoy, and her rapist is caught harassing her in a car park outside the bar where they met . Meg finds out "Ellen"'s secret when she catches Maxine in the act of trying to seduce him and takes him to the Governor's office. Colleen wants to know who else was involved in the deception and sends Alan to isolation. Lainie blames Maxine for getting Alan into trouble and hopes it doesn't end up with him being sent to Woodridge. Lindy takes a present round to the Collins' to apologise. While the women are on exercise period, Alan is escorted to the gates, but the women are surprised to see there is no van waiting to pick him up. Helen realises this means he has been released: he's free.
